Shaky Bridge Wines is located below the southern 45th parallel in the magnificent Alexandra Basin of New Zealand's stunningly beautiful Central Otago. The Alexandra Basin is the most southern winegrowing region on the planet, so our growing environment is all about cool climate viticulture. We have selected grape varieties and clones that thrive in the natural conditions of the basin with the goal of producing intensely flavored wines of superb quality. Such focus to quality is at the heart of our viticultural and vinification decisions, allowing us to create deliciously memorable wines.

Adding even more depth and interest to our wines are the original 'Home Block' vinyeards first planted by winegrowing pioneers of our region, Bill and Gill Grant, during the 1970s. 'Bill's Block' is one of the oldest Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer vineyards in Central Otago. This block provides exceptional flavors from the original rootstock, adding structure, intensity and balance to our finished wines. Sourcing fruit from five other vineyards within the Alexandra Basin, each with its own aspect, soil profile and micro-climate, provides a virtual painters pallate of flavors from which we create our multi-dimensional, award winning wines. Our goal is to make wine a moving experience.

The Shaky Bridge is an iconic Alexandra landmark hailing from the goldmining days of the early pioneers of our region. The stylised bridge seen on our labels is a fitting icon for our wines, paying tribute to the pioneering spirit of the Grant's : two true pioneers of grape growing and winemaking in this unique part of the world.
